Randy Kendrick

Randy Kendrick describes herself as a political and charitable “activist donor.” She believes time and energy are just as important as financial support. She and her husband Ken are Republican donors. Randy is deeply involved in policy development and implementation. She has been involved in consequential change since her college days, when she brought “Up With People” to Auburn University in 1965, during the tenure of Governor George Wallace. They were the first integrated group to visit and stay in student dorms. Randy was a newspaper reporter, winning an Associated Press News Feature Writing Award in 1969. During the early 70’s she traveled Europe and North Africa in a VW van with her dog and her typewriter. In 1973 she started exporting items from Greece to customers on US military bases. Randy practiced law in Virginia during the 70’s and 80’s. During that time she cofounded and served as president of the Virginia Women Attorneys’ Association. She played an active role in changing both the divorce and inheritance laws, some of which dated from colonial times. She was among the first three women ever named as a Fellow of the Virginia Bar Association. Randy has served on the Board of the Goldwater Institute since 2003 and cofounded the Arizona Free Enterprise Club in 2005. Randy is married to Ken Kendrick, Managing General Partner of the Arizona Diamondbacks. They founded the University of Arizona Philosophy of Freedom Center and the Business and Economics Center for Free Enterprise at West Virginia University. She was also instrumental in helping with the creation and funding for the ASU School for Civic and Economic Thought and Leadership. Randy served on the Board of the Independent Women’s Forum in the 90’s. She was formerly active with the campaigns of Senator Marco Rubio, with the Koch Freedom Partners network, the Culture of Freedom project of the Philanthropy Roundtable and the Civics Initiative of the Joe Foss Institute. The Civics Initiative passed the requirement that students must pass a civics test to graduate high school in 35 states. She is a now a member of the American Opportunity Alliance. She and her husband have focused their charitable activities on children and education. They own Bumble Bee Ranch which encompasses the ghost town of Bumble Bee and which offers western rural experiences for a variety of children’s charities.
