Michelle Fischbach (Republican Party) is a member of the U.S. House, representing Minnesota's 7th Congressional District. She assumed office on January 3, 2021. Her current term ends on January 3, 2025. Fischbach (Republican Party) is running for re-election to the U.S. House to represent Minnesota's 7th Congressional District. She declared candidacy for the Republican primary scheduled on August 13, 2024. Fischbach served as the Republican lieutenant governor of Minnesota from 2018 to 2019. She was defeated in her bid for reelection in the primary on August 14, 2018. Fishbach is a former Republican member of the Minnesota State Senate, representing District 13 from 1997 to 2018. She resigned from the Senate on May 25, 2018, to take the oath of office as lieutenant governor. Fischbach attended St. Cloud State University, and later earned a law degree from William Mitchell College of Law. She served as the president of the Minnesota State Senate from 2011 to 2012 and 2017 to 2018. During her tenure in the state Senate, she also served as the Chairman of the Senate Higher Education Committee.
