Known as the "Yella Fella" after his wood products—he's CEO of Great Southern Wood Preserving—Rane is president of the Auburn Board of Trustees and an Auburn megabooster. Part of Auburn's new football facility is named for him. Rane was close to ousted Auburn trustee and fellow millionaire booster Bobby Lowder, and once held millions of dollars in shares of Lowder's failed bank, Colonial.
