Partner of Edward Rose & Sons,

Rose, of Bingham Farms, was a partner of Edward Rose & Sons, a Farmington Hills-based building management company, with his brothers Leslie and Sheldon. His father founded the company in 1921 and it remains family-run, helmed today by Rose's nephew, Warren. The company has a large portfolio of properties in 11 states. It owns and operates about 56,000 apartment units, and has begun developing senior housing under the name Heritage at Irene Woods. Rose worked at Edward Rose & Sons until 2008, when he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Rose graduated high school at 16 and from University of Michigan at 19, and became an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After returning, he got a law degree from University of Detroit-Mercy and worked in the family business for several years, his brother Sheldon Rose said. He then ran the family mortgage business, called Advance Mortgage Corp., until he sold it to Citicorp, now Citigroup, in 1970. Rose cofounded Fidelity Bank in Birmingham in 1971 with his two brothers. The Roses sold the bank to Dearborn Bancorp. in 2007 in a $70 million deal financed by a stock offering of 2.7 million shares of stock. Columbus-based Huntington Bancorp. bought Fidelity Bank's 15 branches in southeast Michigan in March after Dearborn Bancorp was shut down by state and federal regulators. Rose is survived by his wife, Audrey, his daughters Kathy Rose, Janice Ross and Eileen Ruby, and his brothers Sheldon and Leslie Rose.
