Ronnie Planalp

Ronnie Planalp is a founder and producer at Clear Eye Productions, a film production company focused on documentary film. She has produced two award winning documentaries, They Came to Play and Shakespeare High. In 2017 she served as executive producer on two films, House of Z and Split. As a producer in theater on Broadway and the West End, Ms. Planalp’s production credits on Broadway include the Tony Award winner Exit the King, Elling and The Heidi Chronicles. In the West End she has produced Misanthrope and Legally Blonde, as well as the Olivier Award winner Mountaintop that was successfully transferred to Broadway in late 2011. In 2014 she co-produced The Old Man and the Old Moon, an off-Broadway production that will be opened to the stock and amateur markets for licensing in 2019. She is also an active investor on Broadway and was a part of the team for The Glass Menagerie in 2013, which won a Tony award in 2014, as well as If/Then and Here Lies Love both of which were seen on Broadway in 2014. Ms. Planalp is part of the investor team for Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, which opened in the West End in 2018 and will open on Broadway in 2019. She is currently working on a business to business technology platform that ignites impactful consumer engagement for businesses of all sizes called SparkRise.com. Prior to beginning her film career in 2006, Ms. Planalp spent 20 years in the banking and media sectors. She was one of the youngest women to be appointed a vice president at Goldman Sachs in 1990. After moving overseas in 1995 she transitioned to the media industry and worked in Hong Kong and London where she held senior roles in business development and strategy in the publishing, music, digital, and film industries. In 2006, she served as co-chair of the committee to elect Kirsten Gillibrand for NY’s 20th congressional district. Gillibrand was appointed as NY State’s junior senator in early 2009 and Ms. Planalp continues to serve on her finance committee. Ms. Planalp was appointed by President Obama in March 2014 to serve on the Presidential Advisory Committee on the Arts for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. In 2016, she was asked to join the advisory board for TedX, the grassroots initiative borne out of the umbrella organization Ted (Technology Entertainment Design) known by the mission statement “Ideas Worth Spreading”. Ms. Planalp is a vice president of the board of the Film Society of Lincoln Center where she chairs the governance committee and serves on the executive committee. During her tenure she has also contributed new programming initiatives around environmental, cultural, and social issues by bringing MountainFilm Festival based in Telluride, Colorado to Lincoln Center’s campus in 2010. Ms. Planalp has also been an advisory board member of the Tamer Center for Social Enterprise at Columbia Business School since 2006. Ms. Planalp holds a BS in communications from Boston University and an MBA in finance and marketing from Columbia Business School. She was ranked in the top 10 in the U.S.A. in the Women’s A Division of squash racquets between 1990 and 1995 and in the top three in New York City in 1993 and 1994, during which time she won the Metropolitan Championship in New York City in 1993 and 1994. Ms. Planalp lives in New York City and Martha’s Vineyard with her two boys.
