James M. Walsh is a managing principal of Walsh Advisors, LLC, a firm he co-founded in 2002 to market alternative investment solutions to institutions and provide financial advice to companies in leading technology spaces. He has held executive positions in capital markets, investment management, and private client services in the United States, Europe, and Asia. Currently he is a senior advisor to Prisma Capital Partners, LP, a client of Walsh Advisors that manages a $7.1 billion institutional fund of hedge funds. Walsh first worked at The Bank of New York before moving to The First Boston Corporation, where he spent 14 years. During that time, he served as co-head of the First Boston Capital Markets Group in New York, managed the global new business effort for the CSFB capital markets group in London, and served on the CSFB Executive Committee. He spent eleven years in Tokyo for First Boston and Prudential Securities, Inc., with responsibility for managing and expanding capital markets, investment management, and private client businesses throughout the Asia Pacific region. He next joined Société Générale Securities in New York, where he served as a member of the SG Americas Executive Committee, which helped to define the Société Générale expansion strategy in the United States. He advised Zurich Financial Services in the rationalization of their European business units, acquiring a major German insurance company, and the divesting of significant non-core businesses in Germany, Italy, and Spain. Walsh is a member of the Advisory Board of the Wesley Howe School of Technology Management at Stevens Institute of Technology. He holds a B.S. and M.S. in physics from Stevens Institute of Technology and an M.B.A from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business.
