Jonathan D Smidt

Jonathan Smidt has been with KKR since 2000 where he is a partner. During that time, he has been directly involved with several investments and portfolio companies. He played a significant role in the investments in International Transmission Company, Texas Genco, Laureate Education, EFH, East Resources and AOT. He has also had portfolio company responsibilities for DPL and KinderCare Learning Centers. Mr. Smidt is a senior member of KKR's energy and infrastructure team and leads KKR Natural Resources, the firm's platform to acquire and operate oil and natural gas assets. Mr. Smidt sits on the board of Laureate Education. Prior to joining KKR, he was at Goldman Sachs & Co. in the investment banking group in New York where he spent two years in the energy and power industry group and one year in the mergers and acquisitions group. Mr. Smidt started his career at Ernst & Young in Cape Town, South Africa. He holds a bachelor's of business administration and a postgraduate diploma in accounting from the University of Cape Town.
