Mr. Cullen is the firm's chairman, and has been with McGuireWoods since entering practice in 1977. He represents corporations in complex civil commercial litigation, and advises corporations and key executives facing investigation by prosecutors or other governmental investigative agencies. His practice includes representing corporations in dealings with state attorneys general. He was appointed U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia by President George H.W. Bush in 1991, a position he held until April 1993. In 1997, Governor (now Senator) George Allen appointed Mr. Cullen Attorney General of Virginia, where he served from June 12, 1997, until January 15, 1998. He is a member of the firm's Executive Committee.
