Cathy runs Chick-Fil-A, the second-largest fast food chicken chain in the U.S.; only KFC is bigger. Operates 1,500 stores in 39 states, with annual sales of $3.5 billion in 2010. Among its most popular items: chicken sandwiches and waffle fries. Turnover among Chick-Fil-A operators is a low 5% annually. The company cooks an estimated 76 million chickens a year. A devout Baptist, Cathy keeps his stores closed on Sundays (costing an estimated $500 million in lost revenue a year); has taught Sunday school to young teens for 52 years. Cathy is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jeannette McNeil Cathy; sons Dan T. and Don "Bubba" Cathy; daughter Trudy Cathy White; 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren
