Bruce Thompson is chief risk officer at Bank of America. He was previously managing director and head of Global Capital Markets (GCM) at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. As head of GCM, he has accountability for Equity Capital Markets, Investment Grade Capital Markets, Leveraged Acquisition Finance, High Yield Capital Markets, Debt Advisory Services, Loan Capital Markets, and Global Origination for Rates & Currencies. Prior to being named to his current role in July 2008, Thompson held senior leadership positions in the Global Credit Products (GCP) group, including co-head of the entire GCP platform and head of Global Leveraged Finance. Thompson is a member of the leadership teams for Global Investment Banking and Global Markets and is head of Global Capital Commitments. He is also a director of Merrill, Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Incorporated, and a member of the board of managers of Banc of America Securities LLC. Thompson joined Banc of America Securities high yield origination group as a Managing Director in 1996, and was named head of U.S. Leveraged Finance Debt Capital Markets in 2006. Prior to joining Banc of America, he spent the majority of his career with Kidder, Peabody & Co. Thompson holds an MBA from the Darden School at University of Virginia, where he graduated with honors, and a bachelor's degree from Allegheny College, where he also graduated with honors and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He currently sits on the Corporate Advisory Board of Darden.
