America's Natural Gas Alliance (ANGA) today announced Martin J. Durbin has been named president and chief executive officer, effective May 1, 2013. Mr. Durbin comes to ANGA after serving as executive vice president at the American Petroleum Institute (API), where he led advocacy efforts on behalf of the oil and gas industry. "America's abundance of affordable, cleaner-burning natural gas provides ANGA with unprecedented opportunities," said ANGA Chairman and Apache CEO G. Steven Farris. "With his industry knowledge and experience, political acumen and deep background running successful advocacy campaigns, we are pleased to have Marty leading this important alliance. Marty is a respected and well-known voice on energy issues. As API's executive vice president, Mr. Durbin is responsible for integrating the group's government affairs, communications, policy, and legal initiatives. Prior to serving at API, he was vice president of federal relations for the American Chemistry Council (ACC), where he directed federal legislative efforts, lobbying, coalition building, and ACC's political programs. Durbin previously was a legislative assistant for Democratic members in both the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives, where he covered environmental and energy-related issues.
