Dawson “Martin” Cancienne is a partner with The Livingston Group, LLC (TLG). He also is associated with Jones Walker law firm. Previous to both firms, Mr. Cancienne served a lengthy tenure with Congressman W.J. “Billy” Tauzin of the Third Congressional District of Louisiana. Mr. Cancienne brings over a decade of Congressional experience to clients in the federal appropriations and policy arena, with a primary focus on appropriations, health and education matters, energy and agriculture issues, and Corps of Engineers projects. He served Congressman Tauzin in several capacities: As Chief of Operations, his duties included monitoring the effect of federal legislation on state and municipal governments, guiding constituents through the federal procurement and appropriations processes and assisting constituents in communicating with numerous executive branch agencies. As Chief of Staff, he was in charge of operations for the Washington, D.C. and Louisiana offices. As District Director, Mr. Cancienne was responsible for helping constituents through a range of issues and concerns. Based on his efforts in working within the Congressional budgetary process to enhance the Corps of Engineers’ capabilities in Louisiana, Mr. Cancienne was presented the United States Army Commander’s Award for Public Service (July 1996 through July 1999). He attended Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana, Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, and Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
