A longtime CEO and Chairman of an engineering corporation died. J. Dewayne Allen, CEO & Chairman of Allen Engineering Corporation, died on Sunday, Nov. 15 2020. Allen proved significant in the development of concrete and the evolution of concrete floors in the late 1980s and early 1990s. After earning his education in civil engineering, Allen helped work on interstate highway construction in Missouri and Illinois. In 1964, Allen and his wife started a ready-mix concrete operation business in Piggott known as Allen-Hardin, Inc. The company grew into Allen Engineering Corporation after running several plants in Northeast Arkansas and Southeast Missouri. The company grew to develop a full range of concrete equipment, including walk-behind and ride-on power tools to triple tube roller pavers. Allen later designed, engineered, and manufactured the Allen Razorback Truss Seed in 1977, his first piece of concrete equipment.
