Sharice Davids is a Lawyer, briefly a former mixed martial arts (MMA) professional fighter and a politician. She was elected to the US Congress in Nov. 2018. Davids holds a JD from Cornell Law School (2010) and a BBA from Univ. of Missouri-Kansas City. Despite respectable results as an amateur, Sharice failed to break through when she became a professional MMA fighter and she decided to travel the US and live on Native American reservations to work with the communities on economic and other programs. She entered national politics by beating fellow Democrat Brent Welder by 3 percentage points, in the primary for US Rep in Kansas' 3rd district, and continuing to win in the general election(53.3 to 44.2%, a relatively comfortable margin even accounting for the 2.5% which went to the Libertarian candidate) and yet, the first Democrat elected to the House in a decade.
