Anita Bekenstein manages a private family fund which supports non-profits focused primarily on health, education, the environment and the arts. She currently serves as a trustee on several non-profit boards including Upstream USA, Natural Resources Defense Council, Boston Medical Center, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston, Teach for America MA and Partners in Health. She is an overseer at the New England Aquarium and is a member of the Susan F. Smith Center for Women’s Cancers Visiting Committee at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. After receiving her Master’s degree from Tufts Boston School of Occupational Therapy, she worked at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital where she specialized in neurology and pediatrics. She and her husband Josh live near Boston where they enjoy spending time with their five children, two horses, three dogs, a dozen chickens and one cat.
