Mortimer D. A. Sackler serves as a member of the Board of privately held Purdue Pharma and the associated international pharmaceutical companies since 1988. In addition, Mortimer is an active investor and venture capitalist having helped found and develop numerous companies across the technology, consumer goods and hospitality sectors. The Sackler family also actively supports many philanthropic organizations. Important gifts have included: The Sackler Wing at the Metropolitan Museum, The Sackler Medical School in Tel Aviv, The Sackler Wing at the Louvre, The Sackler Institutes for Developmental Psychobiology at Columbia, Cornell, Glasgow and Edinburgh Universities, The Sackler Institute for Comparative Genomics at the American Museum of Natural History, The Sackler Center for Arts Education at the Guggenheim Museum, where Mortimer joined the board in 2003, the recently announced Serpentine Sackler Gallery in London, and now the founding of The Sackler Institute for Nutrition Science at the New York Academy of Sciences. Mortimer graduated from Harvard University with a BA, and NYU Stern School of Business with an MBA.
