Jacques (Jack) Gansler, who served at TASC from 1977 to 1997 as senior vice president and corporate director, is a professor and the Roger C. Lipitz Chair in public policy and private enterprise at the University of Maryland School of Public Policy, as well as the director of the Center for Public Policy and Private Enterprise. Gansler’s career spans more than 50 years in government and private industry, including five years as Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics (1997-2001), during which he was responsible for all matters relating to a number of Department of Defense areas, including acquisition, research and development, logistics, acquisition reform, advanced technology, and nuclear, chemical and biological programs. Gansler is also a member of the National Academy of Engineering, the Defense Science Board and the Comptroller Generals’ (GAO) Advisory Board, as well as a fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration.
