ennie Savage San Francisco, California University of Virginia, CLAS, BA, 1988 Jennie is the Director of Speech and Debate at Palo Alto High School, the co-founder and Board Chair Emeritus of the Silicon Valley Urban Debate League, and was on the founding board of the Bay Area Urban Debate League. She has been awarded two diamonds from the National Speech and Debate Association and leads a team of 9 assistant coaches and eighty students. Her team reached the semifinals of the 2018 National Speech and Debate Association Championship and has won the California State Speech and Debate Championships. Prior to her career in speech and debate, Jennie served as worldwide sales trainer at Adobe Inc., public affairs manager at Planned Parenthood Federation of America, senior legislative aide in the US House of Representatives, and researcher and writer at the Children’s Defense Fund. She was a founding board member of Progressive Women Silicon Valley and is a member of Silicon Valley Social Ventures and Legacy Venture. Her membership in Delta Gamma Fraternity helped spark a lifetime devotion to encouraging and training women to run for public office and she’s a supporter of Ignite National, Emerge America, Emerge Alabama, and Emerge Vermont, and EMILY’s List. Hailing from Alabama, her passion for social justice and equal opportunity has led to her longtime involvement with the Equal Justice Initiative.
