Robert L Miller

Robert L. Miller, the president and CEO of Miller Publishing Group LLC (MPG), began his career in magazine publishing in 1974 when he joined Time Inc., in New York, in the Controllers Department. He ascended through the ranks assuming a number of senior management positions, most notably publisher of Sports Illustrated at 33, he was the youngest in the magazine's history. In 1996, upon leaving Time Inc., Robert purchased its interest in Vibe and, in partnership with Quincy Jones, created Vibe Ventures. Vibe was named one of Adweek's "top 10 up-and-coming" magazines in 1996, 1997, and 1998, and received an award for "general excellence" (the magazine industry's most prestigious award) in 2002. MPG was formed in 1997 following the acquisition of Spin (Vibe Ventures becoming Vibe/Spin Ventures), reinforcing MPG's position in the young adult music and pop culture category. In 1997, MPG purchased Where, an international visitor's guide published in over 45 markets worldwide. Also in 1997, MPG bought Tennis; Cruising World and Sailing World from the New York Times Company. Robert was born in Los Angeles and grew up in San Francisco and Darien, Conn. He received a BA in American Civilization from Williams College in 1971 and an MBA from the Columbia School of Business in 1974. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife Kelly and their two daughters.
