Laurence Lasoff

Laurence Lasoff has 25 years experience helping a broad spectrum of clients navigate the complex regulatory hurdles of international trade and customs. He has successfully represented importers in Customs enforcement proceedings; U.S. firms seeking export licenses for complex international projects in the nuclear, space and aerospace sectors; industry trade associations seeking to improve their members' access to foreign markets; and coalitions of U.S. manufacturers attempting to protect U.S. markets from unfair import competition. Mr. Lasoff currently serves as an advisor on trade negotiations to the Department of Commerce and the Office of U.S. Trade Representative as a member of the Industry Trade Advisory Committee on Consumer Goods. He also serves on the Industry Trade Advisory Committee on Customs. Prior to joining Kelley Drye in 1982, Mr. Lasoff served during the Carter Administration as the Executive Assistant to the Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade. Previously, he was an international trade specialist in the Department of Commerce, Bureau of East-West Trade, which had responsibility for both promoting commercial relations with the Communist world and controlling exports for national security purposes.
