Under the umbrella of Covelli Enterprises, Tampa-based Covelli Family Limited Partnership operates 72 Panera Bread locations, including 28 in Tampa Bay. Covelli’s grandson, Kevin Ricci, runs Covelli Family Limited Partnership from offices in the Westshore Business District. The company will continue to operate in its current structure, a spokeswoman said. A native of Wisconsin, Covelli moved to Warren to open a McDonald’s restaurant in 1959, according to Columbus Business First. The company left the McDonald’s business in 1997 and began franchising Panera Bread restaurants. Today Covelli Enterprises operates about 250 Panera Bread locations, along with Dairy Queen, O'Charley's and other restaurants.
