Robert (Rob) Autor is executive vice president of operations and technology and leads the company's loan origination, servicing and call center operations as well as its information technology division and the corporate procurement function. He also runs Sallie Mae's guarantor services business and is responsible for Sallie Mae's financial institution sales organization. Previously, Mr. Autor served as executive vice president consumer operations and chief information officer which included responsibility for corporate marketing, consumer call centers, corporate procurement and information technology. He also ran Sallie Mae's loan consolidation business, led its corporate development unit responsible for strategic planning and mergers and acquisitions, and oversaw the integration efforts following Sallie Mae's acquisition of USA Group's student loan servicing, guarantee services and secondary market businesses in June 2000. He joined Sallie Mae in 1999. From 1993 to 2000, Mr. Autor served as senior vice president and chief information officer for Nellie Mae, a Mass.-based student loan provider. Also during his tenure at Nellie Mae, he served as chief operating officer of Nellie Mae’s student loan servicing subsidiary, ELSI and led Nellie Mae’s loan origination operations. Before joining Nellie Mae, Mr. Autor was a managing consultant for the general management consulting division of Towers Perrin (formerly Cresap) in New York. He also worked as a manager for Price Waterhouse in New York in the information technology and financial services industry consulting practices. Mr. Autor received a Bachelor of Science degree in business and computer science from the State University of New York. Mr. Autor serves on the Board of Flanner House, an educational, child development and social service center servicing Indianapolis.
