Cindy S. Miller is executive vice president, chief actuary and integration management officer, WellPoint, Inc. In this role, Ms. Miller oversees all actuarial and integration functions for the company. Before taking her current role, she oversaw all actuarial functions for National, Local Group, Individual Under 65, and UniCare businesses, including pricing, product development, valuation, healthcare management support, forecasting, and other types of actuarial analysis. From January to November 2006, Ms. Miller served as senior vice president, chief of staff to the CEO and corporate actuary of WellPoint, Inc. As chief of staff, she was responsible for the design and execution of corporate management processes for the CEO, including representing the CEO as appropriate to ensure that key issues were addressed and internal and external commitments fulfilled. As corporate actuary, Ms. Miller and her actuarial team oversaw the valuation functions of the company and played an integral role in actuarial services related to mergers and acquisitions. Ms. Miller previously served as vice president and corporate actuary of WellPoint, Inc. from 2004 to 2005. Prior to that she held the role of vice president and chief actuary at Anthem, Inc. from 1996 until November of 2004 when Anthem acquired WellPoint Health Networks Inc. and the company name was changed to WellPoint, Inc. In 2000, she assumed responsibility for the company’s risk management functions. She joined Anthem in 1986 as associate actuary and held various management positions between 1986 and 1995. Ms. Miller is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and a fellow of the Society of Actuaries. She is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Society of Actuaries, past chair of the Health Section Council of the Society of Actuaries, past president of the Indianapolis Actuarial Club, and has served on various committees of the American Academy of Actuaries. She also serves on the Advisory Board of the Women’s Fund of Indianapolis, The Actuarial Foundation Board of Trustees and the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement of Central Indiana, Inc. Ms. Miller received her Bachelor of Science degree from The Ohio State University and a Master of Arts degree in Mathematics from Indiana University.
