Craig Jacobson was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. After graduating, Mr. Jacobson moved to Washington, D.C., where he worked for five years. During his time in Washington he worked as a speechwriter for the head of AFl-CIO Building and Trades Department and as a legal intern to the General Counsel of the AFl-CIO. Mr. Jacobson received his Juris Doctor with Honors from George Washington University Law School. Mr. Jacobson began his career in Los Angeles at Shagin & Myman. He then moved to Slaff, Mosk & Rudman and ultimately joined Pollock, Bloom and Dekom, where he became a partner. In 1987 Mr. Jacobson founded the law firm which bears his name with Tom Hansen and Walter Teller. The firm’s partnership has expanded and is now named Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush, Kaller & Gellman L.L.P. Mr. Jacobson’s law practice encompasses many aspects of the media business, including motion pictures, television and digital media. This practice involves the representation of individual talent that includes newscasters, directors and producers as well as numerous production and other corporate entities. Mr. Jacobson acts as an advisor to media executives and has helped structure the sale of a variety of media based companies. Mr. Jacobson is one of the founders and currently participates in operating New Form Digital, a venture with Discovery Media and ITV which produces scripted short form content for the Web. Mr. Jacobson also started Whisper Advisors, a boutique investment banking/advisory company. Mr. Jacobson is on the Board of Directors of Tribune Entertainment, Expedia, Charter Communications and Oaktree Strategic Lending / Oaktree Strategic Income. He sits on the Audit Committees, both of Expedia and Tribune and chairs the Tribune and Expedia Compensation Committees. He has previously served on the board of Ticketmaster, prior to its merger with Live Nation, and the private companies, Eventful and Aver Media. Mr. Jacobson also served on the Board of Trustees of the University of Southern California’s Fine Arts School. With his wife, Lynn, the Jacobsons have endowed a scholarship at Brown and are supporters of the Los Angeles chapters of KIPP and Teach for America; Lynn serves on the Boards of both organizations, chairing the Teach for America Board. Mr. Jacobson is the father of boy/girl twins and a daughter. Mr. Jacobson is an avid collector of contemporary art and, with Lynn, lives in Santa Monica, CA.
