June Jackson Christmas, M.D. has been a long-time Member of JRF's Board of Directors and has enthusiastically involved herself in its activities. She served as Chair of the Program Committee and continues to mentor and provides guidance to scores of JRF Scholars. Before retiring, Christmas was executive director of The Urban Issues Group, a research institute she Co-Founded that focus on policy analysis of the concerns of New Yorkers of African descent. She is also Professor Emeritus of behavioral science at the City University of New York Medical School, and a practicing Psychiatrist. In 1964 she Founded Harlem Rehabilitation Center, a community-based program of Harlem Hospital.
