Armando T. Belly is General Counsel of Soros Fund Management LLC. Mr. Belly was born in Trenton, New Jersey in 1946. He attended the University of Pittsburgh from 1964-1968 where he was a William Pitt Scholar. Mr. Belly graduated in 1968 with a degree in Political Science. He taught third and fourth grade in the New York City public school system before attending New York University School of Law where he was Articles Editor of the Annual Survey of American Law. In 1972, upon graduation, he joined the law firm of Willkie Farr & Gallagher and became a partner in 1980. He served as head of the firm’s Derivatives Practice Group from 1980 to 1993. Mr. Belly was an Associate Professor of Law at New York Law School from 1993-2000 where he taught Derivatives, Civil Procedure and Corporations and in 1999-2000 was director of Continuing Legal Education. Mr. Belly has served on the New York State Bar Association Committee on Commodities and Futures Law and the American Bar Association Committee on Futures Regulation where he also served as co-chairperson of the subcommittee on bankruptcy and insolvency issues. He is a former member of the Committee on Commodities Regulation of The Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the New York State Bar Committee on Securities Regulation, Subcommittee on Commodities Regulation
