Consumer tech expert led firm’s investment in Groupon in March 2010; he is now a board observer. Made an early bet on unmanned aircraft maker Insitu Group, which sold to Boeing for $407 million in 2008. Currently serves on the boards of Angie’s List (local reviews), FreeWheel (online video monetization), Lotame (online marketing), Spot Runner (advertising), TrialPay (e-commerce payment system) and World Golf Tour (internet golf league). Helped raise Battery’s $750 million fund, one of the largest raised last year.
