Pierson "Sandy" Grieve led a transformation of Ecolab in the 1980s and 1990s that made it the powerhouse it is today. He also served as part of the Twin Cities' glue, serving on boards from the airport commission to the Guthrie Theater and raising money for the first Dorothy Day Center. He died Feb. 24 at his home in Naples, Fla. He was 96. Pierson M. (Sandy) Grieve has been a Partner of Palladium Equity Partners, LLC, , a New York private investment firm, since November 1998. Mr. Grieve serves as an Operating Executive of Palladium Equity Partners, LLC., Palladium Equity Partners I, L.P. and Palladium Equity Partners III, L.P. Mr. Grieve served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Questor Corp. and a Senior Executive with AP Parts Corp. Mr. Grieve served as Chairman of the Metropolitan Airports Commission-State of Minnesota from April 1995 to April 1999. He served as the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Ecolab Inc. from 1983 to 1996. He has been a Director of MAIR Holdings Inc. (formerly Mesaba Holdings Inc.) since October 1999. Mr. Grieve serves as a Director of Media One Group Inc., Mesaba Aviation Inc., and the Bank of Naples. He serves as a Director of the St. Paul Companies. He served as a Director of NRG Energy Inc. since June 2000. He serves as a Trustee at University of St. Thomas.
