Katie, a retired non-profit executive, is teaching a new class on "Writing About Animals" and finishing a memoir. She is pursuing Masters degrees in English Literature from Middlebury’s Bread Loaf School and Fine Arts from Sarah Lawrence College. Katie is also a board member of the Wildlife Conservation Society and Island Press. She served as Executive Director of St Joseph’s Hospital and as a senior health care executive for over twenty years, leading innovation on clinical guidelines. She then enjoyed a second career managing The Nature Conservancy’s programs in the Hudson River Valley, creating programs for climate change adaptation and measuring conservation results. Katie’s publications include a community revitalization handbook, a chapter in The Insiders Guide to the Top Business Schools, and health care articles. She holds Masters degrees from the Yale Forestry School and Dartmouth’s Amos Tuck School of Business. She and her husband, Peter, have two grown sons and live in Larchmont with Bella, their Newfoundland. Katie successfully completed the Hawaii Ironman Triathlon twice.
