John Cerisano has more than 15 years of legislative and political experience, focusing primarily on health care issues.John joined the Association's lobbying team in 1997. John is responsible for managing all activities related to lobbying Members and staff of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, the House Education and Workforce Committee, and various leadership offices.Those activities include direct lobbying of Members of Congress and their staffs; activating Blues Plans in Washington; building health industry and employer coalitions; coordinating media and grassroots strategies; and assuring the Association's participation in the development of national health care policy. Prior to joining the BCBSA, John served briefly in the Office of Congressman Rick Boucher (D-VA) and the Office of George Foulkes, Labour Party Member of the British House of Commons.During the eight years prior to joining the Association, John held a senior-level position with the Office of Senator Phil Gramm (R-TX), managing his legislative priorities in several areas, including health care. Prior to joining Senator Gramm's team, John lived in Germany and taught advanced business English to German students. John received his BA in political science at Virginia Tech.
