James E. (Jim) Stephenson is President and Chief Executive Officer of Yancey Bros. Co., which provides Caterpillar, AGCO, and Blue Bird Bus Co. products and services throughout the state of Georgia. Jim assumed leadership of the privately held company in 1994, after an 18-year tenure as a lawyer with the Atlanta law firm, Smith, Currie & Hancock. Jim serves on several boards and advisory councils, including: Republic Bank of Georgia, The Trust for Public Land, The Wesleyan School, Shepherd Center, Grady Memorial Hospital, and the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA). Born in Aruba, Stephenson is the oldest of six children—four boys (all Eagle Scouts) and two girls. He graduated from Fayetteville High School in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and holds an undergraduate degree from Yale University and a law degree from Duke University. (Stephenson attended Yale on a National Merit Scholarship and earned a scholarship to Duke as well.) Jim and Donna, his wife of 39 years, make their home in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. They have two sons: Louis, 36, and Stan, 33, and a daughter, Mary, 31. Jim holds an undergraduate degree from Yale University (1972) and a law degree from Duke University (1976).
