Mark Kent president and CEO of Greenville-based Kent Worldwide, died suddenly on Sunday September 24 2017. Kent, 55, was a father of four. Kentwool’s broad range of customers includes golfer Bubba Watson, Amtrak and many others. The 173-year old company is family owned and known for its nimble response to changes in the textile industry. Kent took over in 1993 when his father, Warren, died unexpectedly. He is the fifth-generation manager of the company. The headquarters of Kentwool is in downtown Greenville. The company’s recent specialty has been golf socks. Kent served on numerous strategic boards, including the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, Greater Greenville Chamber of Commerce, South Carolina Board of Health and Environmental Control and the American Red Cross Upstate SC Chapter. Kent was a 1985 graduate of Wake Forest University and a 1986 graduate of Clemson University's School of Textiles.
