Robert C. Jones is the leader of the firm’s Legislative and Public Policy Group. Mr. Jones’ practice is focused on counseling business, association and not-for-profit clients on federal funding, legislative, regulatory and policy matters. In the course of his distinguished career, Mr. Jones has represented the Kendall Jackson Winery and Vineyards, Verizon Services, Silicon Graphics, Inc. Federal, Donohue Companies, National Geographic Society, United Way of America, The Conservation Fund, Tennessee Public Transit Association, Kansas City Area Transit Authority, Dairy Farmers of America, Inc., National Business Aviation Association, Offshore Marine Service Association, Giner, Inc., and Kestrel Enterprises, Inc. Prior to joining Alston & Bird, Mr. Jones was with Patton Boggs LLP for 18 years and recently served as head of Transportation, Infrastructure and Federal Funding, one of the firm’s largest practice groups. Before entering private practice, Mr. Jones served as counsel to the Senate Appropriations Committee and as appropriations counsel to Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-MD). He received a J.D. from the University of Mississippi in 1986, and a B.A. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1983. He is admitted to practice in Virginia and the District of Columbia. He is also active with several civic and community organizations.
