Lisa Simonyi was born and raised in Gothenburg, Sweden. In 1999, she left Sweden to study abroad at the Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, Scotland, Ithaca College in New York, and then in London, England. In London, she completed her BA degree in Corporate Communication while interning for Dale Carnegie. After graduation she worked as a marketing manager for Europe for Ithaca College, and as an office manager for Coba Asset Management, a real estate investment company. During the years 2004-2006 she completed her graduate studies in Oslo, Norway, at the BI Norwegian Business School, receiving her Master of Science in International Management with a Minor in Organizational Psychology, whereupon she returned to Gothenburg to work for the CEO of a recruitment firm. Her decision to return to Sweden was driven by her desire to be closer to her family. Ironically, moving closer to her family resulted in her meeting and later marrying Charles Simonyi, a man that lived half way across the globe. Lisa and Charles now live in the Pacific Northwest where they have started their own family. The Simonyis have two daughters, Lilian and Livia. Lisa has wholeheartedly adopted her new home with generous involvement in local organizations. She has served on the board of the Seattle Symphony and she is currently on the Animal Care Committee at the Woodland Park Zoo. She is also involved in fund raising efforts for Swedish Hospital. On the international level, Lisa serves on the board of the fashion label, L’Wren Scott.
