Ambassador P. Robert Fannin is senior counsel in Steptoe's Phoenix office. He counsels clients during expansion into global markets and offers valuable insight during their important transition. Mr. Fannin was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve as the US Ambassador to the Dominican Republic in 2007, and during his term, he assisted in achieving US government objectives while coordinating its relations with commercial enterprises and foreign governments. Drawing on the experience he gained while serving as an ambassador, Mr. Fannin continues to help clients navigate global business opportunities. Mr. Fannin has served on the board of directors and executive committee of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce. He also served as a director and officer of two financial institutions. He was chairman of the Phoenix Open Golf Tournament (FBR Open) and served as Big Chief (President) of the Phoenix Thunderbirds, the special events committee of the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce. He also served on committees under several Arizona governors, including the Governor’s Strategic Partnership for Economic Development, the Plan B Task Force (stadium financing) and Growing Smarter.
