Brigitte Schmidt Gwyn is a Senior Director, Public Policy at Business Roundtable which represents the CEOs of the largest companies in America. In this capacity, she leads all outreach and advocacy efforts on a broad range of economic issues including trade, tax, energy, environment, healthcare, and education. She also manages the International Engagement Initiative and all Roundtable activities as they pertain to trade and tax policy. She oversees the business community's efforts to promote trade and investment policies that help raise American and global living standards. She led the business community's successful campaign to enact Trade Promotion Authority legislation, working closely with all industry sectors, the Administration and Congress. Recently cited as "the most influential chief executive lobbying group in the U.S." by the Financial Times, Business Roundtable members are at the forefront of public policy, advocating for a vigorous, dynamic global economy. Brigitte Schmidt Gwyn was recently recognized as the "Woman of the Year"Â in 2008 for her leadership in promoting global trade by Women in International Trade. Prior to joining the Roundtable, Mrs. Gwyn held the position of Director of Government Affairs at American Express Company. During her tenure, she developed the Company's legislative strategy on such key issues as ERISA reform, retirement savings, and employee benefits. She began her career in the House of Representatives, first working for Representative Michael Andrews (TX) and then Representative Jim Kolbe (AZ), on a variety of legislative issues including social security, budget, taxes, and healthcare. Mrs. Gwyn received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Houston in both Political Science and History.
