Michael D. (Mike) Kennedy has been promoted to senior vice president and director of Motorola’s Global Government Relations Organization (Global GRO). In this capacity, he enables Motorola’s profitable growth by ensuring favorable government policies and practices around the world. His portfolio includes telecommunications market access and regulatory policy; political advocacy and funding to enable sales; and federal and state legislative affairs. Kennedy manages a global team with staff in the US, Canada, Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific and Latin America. Mr. Kennedy previously served as corporate vice president and director of Global GRO from 2000-2003 and was responsible for an array of policy and regulatory requirements for Motorola’s communications businesses globally. Earlier, he was responsible for the company’s global satellite policy and North American regulatory programs. He began his career for Motorola in 1985 and opened the company’s first government relations office outside of the US in Brussels, Belgium in 1990 where he led the company’s European telecommunications policy program. Before joining Motorola, Mr. Kennedy held various positions with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) from 1972 to 1985, where he was directly involved in regulatory policy matters, including mobile radio spectrum planning and technical standards. Kennedy earned his BSEE from the University of Maryland and did graduate work at George Washington University. He lives with his wife, Ann in Bethesda, MD.
