Kathleen M. Sutcliffe is the Gilbert and Ruth Whitaker Professor of Business Administration, Professor of Management and Organizations, and former Associate Dean for Faculty Development and Research at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. She received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Michigan, a bachelor of science degree from the University of Alaska, a master of science degree from the University of Washington, and a PhD in management from the University of Texas at Austin. Before studying for her doctoral degree, she lived and worked in a rural Alaskan community, worked for the State of Alaska, and was a senior executive for one of the 13 regional Alaska Native Corporations. She received the 2006 Ross School of Business Researcher of the Year award. In late 2012 she was appointed by the National Academy of Sciences Institute of Medicine to a research panel to study workforce resilience in the Department of Homeland Security.
