Robert Toone represents clients in SEC enforcement actions, white-collar criminal matters, and related government investigations. He also serves as counsel in litigation involving antitrust, intellectual property, and other complex matters. In addition to his trial work, Robert provides major corporations with strategic advice on pending federal legislation. Robert has briefed and argued cases in the United States Courts of Appeal for the Second, Fourth, and Eleventh Circuits, and in many federal district courts. He has authored amicus briefs and served as counsel of record for leading educational organizations and United States Senators in key Supreme Court cases. Robert had extensive and varied legal experience prior to joining Foley Hoag. From 2001 to 2005 he served as counsel for Senator Edward M. Kennedy on the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary. He also directed complex civil rights litigation as an attorney at the Southern Center for Human Rights from 1995 to 2000. Robert clerked for the Honorable Stephen Reinhardt on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
