In his spare time he enjoys the outdoors and managing his small herd of Black Angus cattle on the centennial ranch where he was raised. Before turning pro in politics Phillips competed in NCAA football as an offensive lineman for the University of Wyoming Cowboys and Augustana College Vikings where he earned a degree in Government and International Affairs. Phillips currently resides in Arlington, Virginia with his wife Sarah and their two dogs Hank and Blanqui. Casey, Sarah, Hank and Blanqui are active volunteers for the Lucky Dog Animal Rescue League.
