Joshua E. Tzuker represents numerous clients on a variety of legislative, political and crisis communications issues focusing on energy, the environment, trade, financial services and congressional investigations. From 2003 until 2007, Mr. Tzuker served as legislative director for Rep. John D. Dingell (D-Mich), the current chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. He advised chairman Dingell on a variety of issues ranging from international affairs to transportation. He was also instrumental in the House passage of the first major Second Amendment legislation in over a decade, which received the endorsement of both the National Rifle Association and the Brady Campaign. Prior to working for chairman Dingell, Mr. Tzuker served as legislative director for Rep. Jim Matheson (D-Utah). In this position he helped secure transportation and homeland security funding for the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics. Mr. Tzuker also was a legislative assistant to Rep. Harold Ford, Jr. (D-TN), where he helped to craft legislation reforming the consumer credit reporting process. Mr. Tzuker is active in democratic politics and has worked on political campaigns in Texas, Michigan, Tennessee, Pennsylvania and his native Maryland, where he served as an outreach coordinator for Governor Martin O’Malley. Mr. Tzuker graduated with distinction from the Pennsylvania State University in 1997 with a B.A. in international relations. He received his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center in 2004. He is admitted in Maryland only, practicing under the supervision of the partners of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP.
