William Canfield joined Williams & Jensen as a partner in 1997. He specializes in Federal and state election laws and in representing clients before Congressional investigative committees. Mr. Canfield also represents clients' legislative interests in the areas of administrative law and appropriations. : Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Canfield was a partner at Holland and Knight, from 1993-1997. He previously served in the U.S. Senate as Counsel and Staff Director of the Office of the Secretary of the Republican Conference, as Republican Chief Counsel for the Committee on Rules and Administration, and as Senior Staff Counsel for the Select Committee on Ethics. Mr. Canfield served in Vietnam with the United States Army from 1969-1970. , Mr. Canfield is Chair of the Standing Committee on Election Law of the American Bar Association. He also serves on the Commission on Voter Participation and Ballot Integrity of the Committee for the Study of the American Electorate, and as a consultant to the International Republican Institute on Foreign Affairs. Mr. Canfield is also the Vice President of the Board of Directors of Conduit Fire Board, Inc., a member of the Board of Directors of Decade Society, Inc., and The Ted Stevens Foundation.
