Agostino Cangemi is a Senior Vice President in NSI’s New York City Practice. Mr. Cangemi is the former General Counsel and Deputy Commissioner for Franchise Administration and Planning for New York City’s Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications (DoITT) during the Bloomberg and Giuliani administrations. Mr. Cangemi, a corporate attorney with over a decade of experience overseeing numerous city agencies, also served as Assistant Counsel to former Mayor Giuliani. Formerly a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig, Mr. Cangemi brings a dynamic background representing clients in technology and telecommunications, real estate, procurement, health regulations, consumer protection issues, e-recycling, city government franchises and concessions, as well as advertising requiring government approvals, such as billboards, street furniture, and taxi ads. During the Bloomberg administration, he led and managed the City’s cable television and telecommunications franchises including matters relating to 311 and the City’s television stations and negotiated significant telecommunications and IT contracts. As Assistant Counsel to former Mayor Giuliani, Mr. Cangemi represented the Mayor on pension funds with assets exceeding $30 billion. During his tenure with DOITT, Mr. Cangemi oversaw the City’s disaster response to telecom outages caused by the September 11th and 2003 blackouts. Mr. Cangemi brings local government leadership, regulatory and legal expertise to drive results for clients. Mr. Cangemi earned his J.D., cum laude, from Fordham University School of Law and his B.S., cum laude, from the Cornell University.
