Viraj Mirani, a government relations advisor, has represented a broad array of industries, foreign governments and legal/consulting firms on government affairs and international trade matters for more than ten years. As a non-lawyer lobbyist, Mr. Mirani represents King & Spalding’s clients on issues before Congress and the Executive Branch. Mr. Mirani has experience assisting clients on issues involving trade, health care, education, environmental issues, telecommunications, agriculture, homeland security, immigration and transportation. Prior to joining King & Spalding, Mr. Mirani worked in the Government Relations practice at Shaw Pittman, and also spent ten years at St.Maxens & Company, a government relations and international trade consulting firm. His clients at these firms included leading consumer product, pharmaceutical, computer and electronics firms, as well as several North American, Latin American and Asian foreign governments. Among his major successes, Mr. Mirani has secured several appropriations earmarks for his clients. He also played a key role in attaining an agreement that eliminated U.S. and many foreign tariffs on toys and information technology products. In addition, he has assisted both U.S. and foreign clients in resolving a wide range of market access disputes involving pharmaceuticals, agricultural goods, electronics and other products. Mr. Mirani received his B.A. in International Politics from Middlebury College in 1992.
