Sandra Swirski recently formed a new lobbying and consulting practice, Urban Swirski & Associates. Ms. Swirski was also the Co-Founder of Venn Strategies, a legislative affairs and political consulting firm in Washington, DC. She advises clients on a range of legislative issues including domestic and foreign corporate tax issues, pass-through entity tax issues, individual tax issues and pension issues. Ms. Swirski has more than 15 years of experience in legislative affairs, having served as a tax/finance/retirement advisor to US Senators Jack Danforth (R-MO) and Alan Simpson (R-WY). Previously, she was the former Managing Director of Clark & Weinstock. Ms. Swirski also was Director of Washington Operations for Mobil Corporation, during which time she developed Mobil's global and domestic policy positions on issues including global climate change, unilateral economic sanctions, and domestic foreign tax issues. She also led a successful coalition effort to turn back efforts to increase federal taxes on multinational oil companies, and during her last year there, she developed and orchestrated the company’s successful government relations strategy to secure federal approval for the Exxon-Mobil merger. She has also been chief counsel for the Senate Social Security Subcommittee. Throughout her career, Ms. Swirski has worked on a wide range of financial, tax and retirement issues, including all of the major tax and pension bills of the past decade.
