Shelli Yoder is an Indiana University educator and Monroe County Council member who is running for Congress. Shelli is a native Hoosier who grew up in the small town of Shipshewana, While still in high school, Shelli stocked shelves at the town hardware store and later built furniture at a local factory. She paid her way through Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne, working as well as earning college scholarships on her journey to become Miss Indiana in 1992. Shelli continued her education and earned a Master’s degree in Counseling and Human Services from Indiana University in South Bend and a Master of Divinity from Vanderbilt University, where she also researched mental health policy. Following graduation, Shelli married her husband, Josh Perry, a professor of business law and ethics at IU. They live in Bloomington with their three children.
