Booz Allen Hamilton Vice President Ed Kanerva, based in the firm’s Annapolis Junction, Maryland office, has more than 39 years of experience providing Intelligence, cybersecurity and information assurance support for national security, defense, civil and commercial/international cyber markets. He leads the firm’s integrated management capability providing cyber technology, cybersecurity, computer network defense, and information assurance support to the National Security Agency (NSA). Mr. Kanerva has been a leader in providing management and technical expertise in support of Department of Defense, civil government, intelligence agencies, and commercial clients. Since joining Booz Allen in 2001, he has played a key role in the strategy, growth, and development of our Information and Cyber Security Operations business in the areas of vulnerability analysis, risk assessment, digital network forensics, information systems security, and penetration testing. He has led or contributed to major, large-scale Department of Defense (DoD) projects, providing analytic, intelligence, and engineering support to DoD and Defense clients. Prior to joining Booz Allen, Mr. Kanerva had a 27+ year career as a Navy Cryptologist and Information Warfare specialist with notable duties of serving in Desert Shield/Desert Storm I, numerous operational tours on ships, aircraft, and submarines, and as Chief of Staff and Chief of Operations for the NSA Defensive Information Operations Group and Red Team Lead. Mr. Kanerva has a B.A. degree in history and psychology with graduate work at Johns-Hopkins/Syracuse University in senior-level leadership and national security affairs. He is a member of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA).
