D Michael Rappoport

Mike Rappoport retired from the Salt River Project (SRP) as associate general manager, Public & Communications Services, in November 2011 and maintains a public affairs practice. SRP, based in Tempe, Arizona, is one of the nation's largest public water and electric utilities, with annual operating revenues of $1.8 billion. At SRP, Rappoport's responsibilities included Advertising & Corporate Research; Community, Consumer, Government & Media Relations; Corporate Contributions; and Communications & Communications Services. Rappoport was appointed by President Clinton and was confirmed by the U.S. Senate as a Trustee of the Udall Foundation in 1994. Rappoport was re-appointed in 1996. Rappoport joined SRP in 1973 and served as special assistant, Legislative Affairs; director, Government Affairs; and assistant general manager, Government Affairs, before being named associate general manager, Public & Communications Services, in April 1991. Prior to SRP, Rappoport worked at Pacific Gas & Electric Co. and the National Association of Electric Companies. Rappoport also served as a legislative assistant to the late Congressman Craig Hosmer (California). Rappoport earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from American University in Washington, D.C., in 1961. He received a Master of Arts degree in 1963 from the University of Hawaii. Rappoport completed course work and curriculum requirements for his Ph.D. in 1971. Born in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in 1939.
