Douglas N. Schantz joined Sequent Energy Management and was named president in May 2003. He leads all aspects of Sequent's operations, including natural gas asset management, supply and distribution, trading and producer services. Schantz also plays a key role in developing and implementing long-term growth and business expansion plans for Sequent. He has 20 years experience in the energy industry and natural gas markets, most recently with Houston-based Cinergy Marketing and Trading, a subsidiary of Cinergy Corp. At Cinergy, Schantz held the position of vice president-marketing and business development, where he was responsible for developing and implementing market strategies and completing business development transactions enabling Cinergy to expand its role in the natural gas industry. Before joining Cinergy, Schantz was executive vice president and general manager for KM Marketing, L.P., a subsidiary of Kinder-Morgan Inc., where he helped build the subsidiary into a top-10 North American natural gas marketing and trading company. Schantz has also served in senior management positions with Tenneco Energy Company and Transco Energy Company. Schantz is a graduate of the University of Virginia and holds a master's degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from The University of Chicago. Douglas N. Over the past six years, Mr. Schantz has overseen the company’s growth to a top 15 North American natural gas marketing company and a leading physical trading organization along the Eastern Seaboard. He was appointed to the Policy Committee for Sequent’s parent organization, AGL Resources, which oversees all of the operations of one of the largest distribution companies in the United States. Including his activities at Sequent, Mr. Schantz has more than 25 years of experience in the energy industry and natural gas markets. He has also served in senior management positions with Cinergy Corp., Kinder-Morgan Inc., Tenneco Energy Company and Transco Energy Company. Mr. Schantz was raised in Bethesda, Md., and is a graduate of the University of Virginia. He holds a masters degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from the University of Chicago. He is currently on the advisory board for the Entergy-Tulane Energy Institute and serves as the 2009 Corporate Chairman of the Houston Gulf Coast Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk to Cure Diabetes.
