Jackson Hole Land Trust

The Jackson Hole Land Trust is a private, non-profit organization that was established in 1980 to preserve open space and the critical wildlife habitat, magnificent scenic vistas, and historic ranching heritage of Jackson Hole. By working cooperatively with the owners of the area’s privately owned open lands, the Jackson Hole Land Trust has ensured the permanent protection of over 25,000 acres in and around Jackson Hole and the Greater Yellowstone Area. In 2007, we expanded our program area to include Western Wyoming landscapes, recognizing the ecological connectivity within the Greater Yellowstone Area as a whole, and created the Wind River Program of the Jackson Hole Land Trust, based in Dubois, WY. In 2009, we gained accreditation through the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, which recognizes land conservation organizations that meet national quality standards for protecting important natural places and working lands forever. From 2010 to 2013, we operated under the guidance of a 5-year strategic plan, which identified the importance of protecting open space for community access in addition to our traditional mission-based values. In 2013, we embarked upon a second 5-year strategic plan after completing the goals of the previous plan.
